Who we are
The coordinating team for “Astronomy Translation Network” is part of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) and IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach (OAO). This project is a response to the need for a global network to share resources for astronomy education and outreach in different languages by connecting translation efforts based on volunteers. The project is endorsed by OAO and supported by Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD). We also have advisory members from Language Centers for OAD, IAU commissions, Universe Awareness (UNAWE), Galileo Teacher Training Program (GTTP), Astronomers Without Borders (AWB), The European Southern Observatory (ESO), Square Kilometre Array (SKA) and different Universities that will support the project in all stages providing input for an optimized implementation.
